Paying Your Nanny
Employing a nanny for the first time can be daunting, especially if you've never employed someone before. All workers in the UK, including nannies, if they are earning over the rates & thresholds, must contribute to the economy by paying Tax and National Insurance. This tax and national insurance is paid by the employer, on behalf of the employee through a Paye As You Earn (PAYE) via Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC). We cannot stress enough the importance of getting this right as HMRC will implement hefty fines for undeclared income.

All employers must provide a workplace pension for their employees if at least one of their employees qualifies for automatic enrolment. It is a legal requirement for all UK employers, including nanny employers, to hold Employers Liability Insurance.
